Dr Gebhard Wagener is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Vice Chair for Faculty Development at Columbia University Medical Center in New York and has been practicing there as an anesthesiologist, intensivist and clinical researcher for over twenty years. His clinical and academic interest focuses on liver failure and transplantation. He previously studied the role of vasopressin in liver failure and outcomes after liver transplantation and edited a textbook of liver anesthesiology and critical care medicine, now published as a second edition. He served as President of the Society for the Advancement of Transplant Anesthesia (SATA) from 2023-2025 and has been active in multiple function in the ILTS and UNOS.
