Speaker Bio
I graduated from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, and completed my medical training at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin. My primary clinical and scientific interests focus on providing perioperative care for organ transplantation. I served as the Director of the Transplantation Division at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center for several years, and since September 2022, I have held the same position at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. My current research efforts include investigating the causes of hemodynamic instability during liver transplantation, exploring hypercoagulability in end-stage liver disease, examining liver transplantation for patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), managing donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors, and analyzing the effects of hyponatremia on perioperative outcomes. I am also involved with several professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Transplantation Committee, the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS), the Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (LICAGE), The Transplantation Society (TTS), the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA), and the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WFSA).
