Dr. ND Dashdorj Onom is a scientist, philanthropist, investor, and entrepreneur dedicated to advancing global health. He serves as Chairman of the Board of the Onom Foundation, an operating family foundation that has launched two public health programs and three healthcare initiatives, securing over $100 million in government funding. These efforts have directly impacted more than 3.4 million people and saved over 60,000 lives by addressing both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Onom is also Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Onom Institute, which includes the Liver Center, the Clinical and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL), the Center for Infectious Diseases, the Clinical Research Center, and the Center for Non-Communicable Chronic Diseases. Established in 2015, the Liver Center is a leading institution for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of liver diseases. The Clinical Research Center conducts phase III clinical trials and post-approval studies, supporting evidence-based healthcare interventions. Research from the Onom Institute informs and drives public health programs implemented by the Onom Foundation.
Dr. Onom began his scientific career as a postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. National Institutes of Health before becoming a tenure-track faculty member at Argonne National Laboratory, one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s premier research institutions. He holds a doctorate in physics from Purdue University and an master of science in management from Stanford University. His research has resulted in over 50 peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals, widely cited across multiple disciplines.
