Dr. Livia Melo Villar received a B.S. in biology (modality medical) from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro State in 2000. She earned his master science in 2002 and his Ph.D. in 2006, both from Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), Brazil. She obtained her doctorate to develop methods to detect hepatitis viruses on different sources, such as, saliva, water and serum. She is head of Brazilian Reference Laboratory for Viral hepatitis and sub coordinator of Pos Graduate Program in Tropical Medicine at FIOCRUZ. Her interests are focused in epidemiology, diagnosis, pathogenesis and treatment of viral hepatitis and coinfections.
