Dr. Kumar obtained his PhD in HCV virology from the Indian Institute of Science, India in 2015. With several years of experience working on a variety of viruses, including HCV, dengue, HIV and HBV, he has contributed to understanding host-virus interaction mechanisms and developing antiviral therapeutic strategies. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher in the team of Barbara Testoni and Fabien Zoulim at the Lyon Hepatology Institute. His research focuses on developing base-editing based approaches to target the HBV genomic reservoir to inhibit both HBV and HDV.
