Speaker Bio
Dr. Teshima graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in 2003 followed by residency training in Internal Medicine at UofT and then GI residency in Edmonton. He then pursued an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Erasmus Medical Centre in the Netherlands where he obtained his PhD. He joined the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Alberta in 2010 and then in 2015 moved St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto where he was co-director of the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program and of the annual ‘Toronto Live’ endoscopy conference. He recently moved to Vancouver General Hospital to help build its 3rd space and endoscopic tissue resection program.
His clinical interests focus on therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including endoscopic treatments for upper GI neoplasia including Barrett’s esophagus and early esophageal and gastric cancer, POEM for achalasia, gastroparesis and Zenker’s diverticulum, endoscopic resection of large colonic polyps, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic EUS.
