Elmira Shajari is a PhD candidate in Cell Biology at the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, specializing in non-invasive diagnostics for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Her research combines stool-based proteomic biomarker discovery with machine-learning models to improve disease activity assessment, particularly in patients with borderline fecal calprotectin levels where clinical decisions remain challenging.

She integrates mass spectrometry, multi-marker panel development, and explainable AI to advance precision monitoring in IBD. Elmira has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented her work at national and international conferences.

She is also Co-Founder of GutSight, a pre-incorporation translational venture developing an AI-driven biomarker platform for longitudinal inflammatory monitoring in IBD. Her goal is to bridge gastroenterology, omics, and data science to deliver clinically actionable tools for chronic GI disease management.
