Tyler completed his undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at McMaster University with a focus in biology and pharmacology and a minor in biochemistry. He is currently a PhD candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Waliul Khan where he is investigating the effects of artificial food dyes on the gut microbiota and intestinal inflammation.
