Dr. Geoffrey Nguyen is a gastroenterologist, clinician-scientist, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and ICES scientist with a clinical appointment at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He completed his medical degree, residency training, gastroenterology fellowship, and PhD in Clinical Investigation at Johns Hopkins University, where he also held a National Institutes of Health research fellowship.

Dr. Nguyen’s research focuses on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with an emphasis on health services research, clinical epidemiology, and improving quality and equity of care. His work has informed clinical practice guidelines and health policy, particularly in optimizing care delivery models and access to specialty care. He is the national lead of the Promoting Access and Care through Centres of Excellence (PACE) network, which supports standardized, high-quality IBD care across Canada.

His work in virtual healthcare delivery has advanced telemedicine models for chronic disease management, improving access to specialty care for patients in rural and underserved communities.
