Dr. Alex Miethke graduated from Charite Medical School at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. He completed his training in Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and joined the faculty there in 2009. His research interests include cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases in children and young adults. He aims to uncover the disease mechanisms of immune mediated liver and bile duct injury in biliary atresia and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) using single cell genomics tools, iPSC derived cell and organoid assays, and preclinical models. He is an investigator of the multi center studies ChiLDreN and ALiNK to discover biomarkers for treatment response and disease progression in pediatric onset PSC and autoimmune hepatitis.
