Dr. Emma Lee earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Manitoba. She is currently the Acting Chief of the Viral Hepatitis and Blood-Borne Pathogens Laboratory at the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg.
The laboratory supports hepatitis monitoring, control, and prevention through reference diagnostic services, national surveillance, research, and quality assurance.
Dr. Lee is involved with the CanHepB Network, the Outbreak Management Division, the National Enteric Surveillance Program, the Centre for Communicable Diseases and Infection Control (CCDIC), and serves as co-chair of the CPHLN STBBI Working Group. Previously, she worked at the National HIV Genetics Laboratory, which supports the Canadian HIV Strain and Drug Resistance Program and serves as Canada’s focal point for WHO HIVResNet.
