Dr. Lucas Kraemer is a Brazilian researcher who completed his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral training at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. His academic work has focused on mucosal immunology, with particular interest in immune responses during helminth infections.

In 2023, he joined the University of Calgary as a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Derek McKay’s lab, where he studies how helminth infections modulate intestinal inflammation and promote immune regulation, with relevance to inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Kraemer is a recipient of the Beverly Phillips Award and Triangle Postdoctoral Award. Outside the lab, he enjoys reading, playing music, and good conversations with friends.
