Kelly Kan is a PhD candidate in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University under the supervision of Dr. Elena Verdu and Dr. Alberto Caminero. She completed her undergraduate degree at Western University in Medical Sciences, before starting her graduate studies with a focus on gastrointestinal research at the Farncombe Institute. She is currently investigating the optimization of microbial protein metabolism to prevent or treat inflammation in celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
