Professor Yu-Fan Cheng, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and the Liver Transplantation Center at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. His expertise spans diagnostic and interventional radiology as well as liver transplant imaging, and he is recognized as a pioneer in liver cancer treatment and transplantation. Supported by the National Research Grant Program for over two decades, Professor Cheng has made sustained and distinguished academic contributions.
He completed his training at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis, and became Professor of Radiology in 2003. He later established an international liver imaging and interventional radiology training program, which has trained nearly one hundred physicians worldwide.
Professor Cheng has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers and delivered more than 100 invited lectures internationally. His numerous honors include the Taiwan SNQ National Biotechnology and Medical Quality Award and the Central America Medical Contribution Award. In 2025, he was named among Stanford University’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists” Career Long Scientific Impact Ranking (1960–2024), affirming his status as a global leader in radiology and liver transplant imaging.
