Speaker Bio
I am a clinician specializing in hepatobiliary and liver transplantation, with a strong focus on both adult and paediatric transplant medicine. I graduated with an MBBS from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and subsequently completed my MD in Colombo. My clinical and academic journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to advancing liver transplantation and improving patient outcomes.
I undertook dedicated hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and liver transplant training between 2019 and 2022, gaining extensive experience in complex transplant care. I further developed my expertise in paediatric liver transplantation through specialized training in Japan under Professor Kasahara, where I was exposed to advanced surgical techniques and multidisciplinary care in a high-volume centre.
I have also completed three years of advanced training at King’s College Hospital, London, one of the leading liver transplant centres globally. During this time, I was actively involved in both clinical management and research, contributing to the care of complex transplant patients and refining my skills in perioperative and long-term transplant management.
My primary research interests include machine perfusion in liver transplantation and paediatric liver transplantation. I am particularly interested in innovations that expand the donor pool, improve graft preservation, and enhance outcomes in vulnerable patient groups.
I am committed to combining clinical excellence, research, and education to advance the field of liver transplantation and deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
