Dr. Imran Ali Syed is a Consultant Hepatologist and Transplant Physician at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center, a leading high-volume transplant center in South Asia. His clinical practice is dedicated to liver transplantation, with a particular focus on living donor liver transplantation (LDLT), where he plays an integral role in both pre- and post-transplant patient management.
Dr. Syed completed his FCPS in Gastroenterology at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore, and subsequently received advanced training in hepatology and transplant medicine at PKLI. He also gained international clinical experience at King Khaled General Hospital, managing complex hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal disorders.
At PKLI, Dr. Syed is part of a multidisciplinary transplant team that has successfully performed over 1,000 living donor liver transplants, making it one of the region’s most established LDLT programs. His expertise spans transplant evaluation, peri-operative optimization, and long-term care of transplant recipients, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes in resource-limited settings.
His clinical interests include viral hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and complications of advanced liver disease in transplant candidates. In parallel with his clinical work, he is actively involved in research in liver transplantation and hepatology, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and advancing evidence-based transplant care.
