Takeo Toshima, MD, PhD, is a transplant surgeon and Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and Science at Kyushu University, Japan. He has extensive experience in liver transplantation, particularly LDLT. His clinical expertise includes the management of postoperative complications, especially post-transplant liver failure and SFSS, as well as advanced surgical techniques such as hepatic arterial reconstruction. He is also actively engaged in minimally invasive donor surgery, particularly laparoscopic donor hepatectomy for pediatric recipients.
Dr. Toshima has contributed extensively to both basic and clinical research, authoring more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, including over 230 publications with 30 as first author. He has played a key role in international multicenter studies, with publications in leading journals such as the American Journal of Transplantation. He is an active member of several national and international societies, including ILTS, ASTS, TTS, and IHPBA.
