Dr. Suk Kyun Hong is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of HBP Surgery and Transplant Center, Department of Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). He received his M.D. (2007), M.S. (2017), and Ph.D. (2021) from Seoul National University College of Medicine, and completed his surgical residency and HBP/transplant fellowship at SNUH. From 2022 to 2024, he served as a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, Division of Abdominal Transplantation.
His clinical and research interests focus on adult and pediatric liver transplantation, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, surgical oncology of hepatocellular carcinoma, and minimally invasive liver surgery, with particular emphasis on pure laparoscopic living donor hepatectomy—a field in which he and the SNUH team have led global practice. He is also actively engaged in translational research involving transplant immunology, biomarker discovery, and registry-based outcomes research through the Korean Organ Transplantation Registry (KOTRY) and the International Living Donor Liver Transplantation Vanguard Group.
Dr. Hong has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including American Journal of Transplantation, Annals of Surgery, Liver Transplantation, and Hepatology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS, 2025) and has received numerous honors, including the ILTS Rising Star Award (multiple years), ILTS Vanguard Award, A-PHPBA Young Investigator Award, the 2024 Academic Grand Prize of the Korean Society for Transplantation, and the Doosan Yonkang Award in Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (2025).
