Dr Aluvihare is the current Chair of the UK Liver Advisory Group (LAG) overseeing national liver transplant programs (Dec 2023 - current) and a member of the National Transplant Clinical Panel for NHSBT and NHSE. He was Adult Transplant Lead at the Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital 2023-2026 and Transplant Hepatology Lead 2016-2026. He is past Chair of the British Liver Transplant Group 2019-2022, the representative body for all UK liver transplant centres. He qualified at the Royal Free Hospital and completed his training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He undertook MRC funded Training (PhD) and Clinician Scientist fellowships at the world-renowned MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Welcome Trust Immunology Unit, University of Cambridge. He was awarded a 5-year HEFCE Senior Lecturer Fellowship and an ROTRF grant in transplantation research at King’s College Hospital. He has been a member of LAG for more than 15 years, Hepatology representative on the National Multi-visceral Transplantation Review Group, a core member of the NHSBT Living Donor Steering Board, Transplant Hepatology representative on the British Transplant Society Council (2018-2024), a member of the Transplant Immunology SIG at ILTS and a past member of the Editorial Board for Liver Transplantation. He holds a National Clinical Impact award in recognition of his national impact.
