Dr. Lakshmi is a PhD research scholar in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, India. Trained in Doctor of Pharmacy, her work integrates clinical pharmacology with transplant science.
Her doctoral research focuses on donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) as an early biomarker of rejection and as a tool to guide immunosuppression in liver transplantation, within a randomized controlled trial framework. She has received research funding through the Liver Transplant Society of India (LTSI) Scholarship for Basic Research in support of her doctoral work. She was awarded the Best Researcher Award at ASGKCON 2025. Her work has been presented at national scientific meetings, with recognition in both oral and poster categories. Her research interests include rejection biology, immunosuppression strategies, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and post-transplant infectious complications. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications focused on improving monitoring strategies and clinical decision-making in liver transplantation. Her work aims to enhance graft outcomes and advance personalized, evidence-based post-transplant care.
