Mr Abdul Rahman Hakeem is a Consultant Adult and Paediatric Liver Transplant Surgeon and the Education Lead for Liver Transplant Surgery at King’s College Hospital, London. He also holds an honorary academic role as an Adjunct and Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London. He currently serves as Chair of the UK Liver Transplant Collaborative and Chair of the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS) Vanguard Committee.
He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles, with an H-index of 31, and has been involved in several NIHR and nationally funded research projects. He completed a PhD at the University of Leeds focused on human liver bioengineering and has contributed to multiple ILTS consensus conferences and the development of national LDLT and DDLT guidelines.
Mr Hakeem has received several awards, including the NHSBT/BTS Excellence in Education Award (2025) and Young Investigator Awards from ILTS (2022), LTSICON (2019), and ESOT (2017). His research interests include transplant oncology, liver regeneration, small-for-size syndrome, and long-term outcomes following liver transplantation.
