Dr. Ali Zarrinpar is a surgeon-scientist and Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida, where he serves as Assistant Chair of Innovation and Associate Director of the MD-PhD Program. His clinical practice focuses on liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery, and he is recognized for leading high-acuity transplant care with excellent patient outcomes.
Dr. Zarrinpar’s research is centered on improving outcomes in liver disease and transplantation through translational and computational approaches. His work spans immunosuppression optimization, immunometabolism, liver cancer biology, and machine perfusion, with an emphasis on integrating quantitative models and clinical data to guide patient-specific decision making. He has led prospective clinical trials, including studies of model-informed tacrolimus dosing, and directs a translational research program supported by a robust clinical tissue biorepository.
He has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and is an active leader in national and international transplant societies. Dr. Zarrinpar currently chairs the Scientific Studies Committee of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, where he has advanced initiatives focused on collaborative science and multi-center research.
