Roberto Ivan Troisi, MSc MD PhD ESA FEBS (Transpl; HPB) FASGO, is full professor of Surgery at the Federico II University of Naples, Italy and is actually Chairman of the Division of HPB, Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery, Transplantation Center at the Federico II University Hospital since January 2020. He received his surgical training in Naples, Brussels and in Ghent. He obtained the PhD Degree at the Ghent University in 2003, appointed as Associate Professor in 2004 and became Full Professor of Surgery in 2017. He led the Division of HPB and Liver Transplant Surgery from 2009 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020 acted as Chairman of the Department of HPB, Small Bowel and Liver Tranplantation at the King Faisal Hospital (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). Dr Troisi performed live laparoscopic surgery in 12 different countries establishing the minimally invasive donor hepatectomy program in Belgium and in Saudi Arabia. He established the robotic live donor kidney transplant program in Naples (2022) followed by the robotic kidney implantation (2024). He acted as executive committee of the Italian HPB chapter (2020-2023), the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (2020-2023) and the iLDLTG (2024-2025). From 2026 is chairing the minimally invasive donor hepatectomy and liver transplantation committee at the ILLS. Member of many international scientific societies including IHPBA, ESOT, IASGO, ESA, LDLT Society, iLDLTG and ILTS, he is reviewer for the major surgical journals. His scientific academic output (Feb. 2026) consists of 457 peer-reviewed publications (Hirsch index of 67) and he has written 20 book chapters.
