Professor Carlo Pulitanò graduated in Medicine in Milan and completed a six-year general surgical training program across Milan, Paris, and Edinburgh. In 2011, he moved to Sydney to undertake a clinical fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA), where he worked for almost three years. He then completed a PhD in transplantation surgery at the University of Sydney, followed by an additional fellowship in hepatobiliary and organ transplantation surgery at Toronto General Hospital, Canada.
He currently serves as Director of the RPA Translational Centre for Organ Assessment, Repair and Optimisation, and leads the Liver Transplant Oncology Program. He is also Director of the RPA Centre for Advanced Research in Liver, Pancreas and Biliary Surgery, where his work bridges surgical practice and biomedical innovation to improve organ utilisation and transplant outcomes.
