Dr. Amit Mathur is a Professor of Surgery and Consultant in the Division of Transplant Surgery, Department of Surgery, Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, Arizona and the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He serves as the Surgical Director of Liver Transplantation at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, the Enterprise Director for Transplant Quality and Compliance, and an Associate Medical Director for Contracting and Payer Relations (Transplant) at Mayo Clinic.

His clinical interests are in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation, utilization of extended criteria and living donor organs, organ perfusion, and transplant oncology. His academic interests focus on clinical outcomes and health care utilization after transplantation, barriers in access to transplantation, clinical and non-clinical barriers to living organ donation, transplant quality, and transplant finance. He is deeply interested in policy issues in organ donation and transplantation.

Dr. Mathur serves as the Director of the National Living Donor Assistance Center and the Prinicipal Investigator for the Living Organ Donor Reimbursement Program.

Dr. Mathur is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has served in national leadership of several professional organizations and research studies in transplantation, including serving on the Board of the Alliance. He has received several honors related to his scholarly work and service to the field. Dr. Mathur has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, books, and other publications related to his expertise.
