Dr. Magyar completed his general surgery residency training at the Kantonsspital Aarau and the Inselspital Bern in Switzerland, with a focus on hepato-biliary and transplant surgery – concluded by surgeon board-certification in April 2025.
He concentrated his research efforts on surgical oncology for liver cancer, transplantation, and transplant oncology - which accentuated during his research fellowship at the University Health Network in Toronto (Canada) in the lab of Dr. Gonzalo Sapisochin. He actively participates in large-scale research projects involving multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations. Since his return in January 2025 he has been working clinically at the Inselspital Bern in Switzerland.
Dr. Magyar is a member of several professional associations, including the STS, ESOT, AST, and ILTS. Within the Swiss transplantation Society he serves as the head of communication.
