Laura Lladó, MD, PhD, is a senior consultant surgeon specialized in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation. She obtained her MD degree from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and completed her residency in General and Digestive Surgery at Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge. She earned her PhD in Medicine and Surgery with cum laude distinction, focusing on surgical and hemodynamic aspects of liver transplantation.
She is currently Head of the Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgery Unit and Director of the Liver Transplant Program at Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge, one of the leading transplant centers in Spain. She is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona, and member of the JAMA Surgery editorial Board.
Her clinical and research interests include liver transplantation, complex hepatobiliary surgery, transplant immunosuppression, organ allocation, domino and combined transplantation, and transplantation in high-risk recipients. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact international journals and has participated in multiple prospective and multicenter clinical studies.Her H-index is 34.
Dr. Lladó has supervised several doctoral theses and is actively involved in scientific societies, currently serving as President of the Catalan Transplant Society and Vice President of the Spanish Society of Liver Transplantation. She is a member of editorial boards of international journals and regularly acts as a peer reviewer, contributing to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery.
