Andreas Kremer is Head of Hepatology, Vice Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Co-Director of the Liver Transplantation Unit at University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland. He is internationally recognized as a clinician, educator, and investigator in hepatology, with particular expertise in advanced liver disease and liver transplantation.

His translational, clinical, and experimental research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of immune-mediated and cholestatic liver diseases, including symptom burden such as pruritus and fatigue, fibrogenesis, and hepatocarcinogenesis, with an emphasis on improving outcomes before and after liver transplantation.

Professor Kremer has received several national and international awards, including the Schering-Plough Award of the Dutch Society of Gastroenterology, the UEGW Top Abstract Prize, and the Bernhard Award from the International Forum for the Study of Itch (IFSI). His work has been cited more than 11,000 times (h-index 54; Google Scholar), and he serves on the editorial boards of multiple journals.

He has chaired national and international guideline initiatives and is a member of the Board of Directors of IFSI and the Swiss Association for the Study of the Liver (SASL).
