Dr. Nicolas Goossens is a Senior Consultant (Médecin Adjoint Agrégé) in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Geneva University Hospital (HUG), Switzerland, and a Privat-Docent at the University of Geneva. He earned his medical degree from the University of Geneva and a Master of Science in Clinical Evidence-Based Health Care from the University of Oxford, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.

As an expert in hepatology, Dr. Goossens’s clinical and translational research focuses on the intersection of metabolic syndrome and liver disease (MASLD), as well as the molecular classification and prevention of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). He has authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed publications, significantly advancing the understanding of non-invasive diagnostics, precision medicine, and liver oncology.

Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Goossens is highly active within the international hepatology community. He currently serves as a Council Member for the Swiss Association for the Study of the Liver (SASL) and a Scientific Committee Member for the Swiss Transplant Cohort Study.
