My name is Andrew Gold, MD MS. I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania, my Master of Science at Drexel University College of Medicine, and my medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. I completed both my anesthesiology residency and critical care fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania before joining the faculty. I split my clinical time between the ICU and the Operating Room. In the ICU, I work in the surgical ICU and Cardiothoracic surgical ICU. I am the medical director of the surgical ICU and the associate division chief of critical care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. My focus in the operating room is anesthesia for thoracic surgery and liver transplantation. My academic focus surrounds point of care ultrasound and perioperative echocardiography I live just outside of Philadelphia in Media with my wife Allison, 2 children Parker (age 9) and Gracie (age 6), and dog Panda.
