Claire Francoz, MD, PhD graduated from Paris Medical School in 1996 and received her MD degree from the University of Paris VII in 2001. She became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hepatology at Beaujon Hospital, University of Paris VII, in 2004, and obtained her PhD in Cellular Physiology and Pathophysiology from the University of Paris VII in 2014.

She currently leads the Liver Intensive Care Unit and the Liver Transplant Program within the same department. Her main research interests focus on acute liver failure and decompensated cirrhosis, with a particular emphasis on acute kidney injury and hepatorenal syndrome. She has authored more than 150 articles in international peer-reviewed journals.

She has been a member of the Scientific Committee of United European Gastroenterology since 2025 and of the Steering Committee of the International Club of Ascites (ICA) since 2024. Dr Francoz has served as an Associate Editor for Transplantation since 2024.
