I am a hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HBP) surgeon with extensive experience in liver transplantation, liver resection, and minimally invasive surgery. My clinical and research work has focused on living donor liver transplantation, laparoscopic and robotic liver surgery, and regenerative medicine, including liver regeneration and hepatocyte-based therapy.

I have performed more than 4,000 surgical procedures in hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal surgery, with particular expertise in living donor liver transplantation and advanced minimally invasive techniques. My international training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the University Medical Center Groningen further strengthened my expertise in complex surgical procedures and translational research.

As Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Nagasaki University, I have led clinical programs in liver transplantation and minimally invasive surgery and have trained numerous surgeons both in Japan and internationally. I have also contributed to the development and dissemination of advanced surgical techniques through academic activities and international collaborations.

My experience in minimally invasive liver surgery and participation in multicenter studies provide a strong foundation for conducting randomized controlled trials. I am well-positioned to contribute to and support the successful implementation of multicenter clinical research, including studies comparing robotic and laparoscopic liver resection.
