Gert-Jan Eerdekens is an anesthesiologist at UZ Leuven with a strong focus on cardiovascular anesthesia and anesthesia for complex surgical procedures, including cardiac and liver transplantation. He obtained his medical degree at KU Leuven, where he developed a keen interest in perioperative care for high-risk patients.

To further refine his expertise, Dr. Eerdekens completed a fellowship at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (St Bart’s) in London, gaining advanced experience in cardiac anesthesia and critical care medicine in a high-volume international center. His clinical work is characterized by a commitment to patient safety, precision in hemodynamic management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

At UZ Leuven, he is actively involved in the care of patients undergoing major cardiac and liver transplant procedures, contributing to improved perioperative outcomes in these complex populations.
