Dr. Riccardo De Carlis is a general surgeon at Niguarda Hospital in Milan (Italy), specializing in abdominal organ transplantation (liver, kidney, and pancreas) and HPB surgery, with a focus on advanced laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive techniques. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Milan (2013), specialized in General Surgery from the University of Pavia (2019), and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Padua (2026). A key contributor to Italy’s first DCD liver transplant program, he developed original protocols for normothermic regional and machine perfusion. He is also deeply committed to the clinical mentoring of medical students and surgical residents. An author of over 110 peer-reviewed papers, he serves as a reviewer for international journals and is a member of SIC, SITO, ESOT, and ILTS.
