Sarwa Darwish Murad MD, PhD is a consultant hepatologist with a clinical and research focus on liver transplantation and vascular liver diseases at Erasmus MC University Hospital in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She graduated as MD and MSc (Health Services Research) in 2004 and earned her PhD in vascular liver diseases in 2009 at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She completed her internal medicine residency and liver transplant research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, USA, from 2007-2011, followed by a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Erasmus MC until 2016, where she joined the staff. She currently serves in the EASL Governing Board as chair of the Scientific Committee, in the European Liver and Intestinal Association (ELITA) as board member, and in the Dutch Transplant Society (NTV) as chair.
