Annalisa Berzigotti is Full Professor of Clinical Hepatology at the University of Bern and Chief of Hepatology and Co-Director of the Department of Visceral Surgery and Medicine at Inselspital, University Hospital of Bern. She obtained her medical degree and completed her residency in Bologna, Italy, and pursued advanced training in liver disease research and clinical hepatology at the Liver Unit of Hospital Clínic, University of Barcelona. Her clinical and research focus centers on invasive and non-invasive assessment and management of chronic liver disease and portal hypertension. She has authored or co-authored more than 350 peer-reviewed publications spanning clinical and translational hepatology. Professor Berzigotti has held several leadership roles, including membership of the Governing Board of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (2016–2019), liver representative on the Council of United European Gastroenterology (2022–2025), and is currently member of the Radiology Committee of ILTS, board member of the Swiss Association for the Study of the Liver, Vice Chair of the Baveno Cooperation and Deputy Editor of the Journal of Hepatology.
