René Adam
René Adam has been Head of the Department of the Hepato-Biliary Center of Paul Brousse Hospital and Medical Director of a Department of Digestive and HPB diseases, Cancers and Transplantations, including nine surgical units and 4 hospitals of Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) up to 2022. Since 1994, he has held the position of Professor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine at Paris Saclay University and is currently Emeritus Professor.
Professor Adam’s main fields of activity and research are surgery of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas, and hepatic transplantation. He is particularly involved in the treatment of primary and secondary liver tumors especially by combination of chemotherapy and surgery. He is head of a Research team of Paris-Saclay University, "Chronotherapy, Cancer and Transplantation" especially devoted to innovative projects on fast-track surgery, domomedecine and optimization of liver function recovery through machine perfusion in liver transplantation. He is also General Manager of the European Liver Transplant Registry (ELTR), and Director of LiverMetsurvey that he founded in 2005 and collects more than 33,000 operated patients for colorectal liver metastases. He is President of the International Hepatic Pancreatic Biliary Association (IHPBA). He has made around 800 scientific communications at congress, has delivered 800 lectures as invited speaker on international meetings around the world, and has published 650 peer-reviewed articles with a PubMed H-index of 130 and more than 76,000 citations to date.
